| Tom Ford Directs Gay Flick |
Gay fashion designer Tom Ford announced Wednesday that his first deal to direct a film, "A Single Man," is set to begin filming in Los Angeles on Monday. The movie is starring Colin Firth, Julianne Moore and Matthew Goode, and is set in 1962. It tells the story of how a British college-professor, played by Firth, deals with losing his partner of 16 years. Ford is generally credited with bringing the fashion houses of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent to new hights but moved away from the fashion business in 2004 to pursue a career in entertainment. He formed his own production company, Fade to Black, in 2005. Ford lives part-time in Los Angeles and increasingly has become a red-carpet player with the likes of Tom Hanks and Daniel Craig wearing his tuxedos to major events. The designer's friendship with Craig also led Ford to designing James Bond's wardrobe for the upcoming "Quantum of Solace." Last update: 10-30-2008 14:57
