| NBC Regrets Matthew Mitcham Coverage |
The folks over at NBC say they are sorry that they failed to mention anything about gay Australian diver Matthew Mitcham's gripping personal story when covering the men's 10m platform diving competition at the Beijing Olympics where Mitcham won the gold medal. NBC's Olympics President, Gary Zenkel, issued an apology for the NBC reporting team's failure to talk about Mitcham's story and the fact that his partner was there to root him on. The reporting team routinely talked about the other athletes family and background. "We regret that we missed the opportunity to tell Matthew Mitcham's story. We apologize for this unintentional omission," said Zenkel. Last update: 01-29-2009 18:23
