Melissa Donates Guitars to Cancer Research

HOLLYWOOD, FL  --  Lesbian singer Melissa Etheridge donated two of her guitars to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida Saturday and in return received $205,000 for cancer research from the casino.Melissa Etheridge. © A. Gilbert / PR Photos

The Grammy award–winning singer, songwriter, and activist, has been an avid supporter of cancer research after she herself won the battle against the deadly deceice several years ago.

Etheridge recently released her ninth studio album, Awakening, and is one of the stars selected to perform at the Nobel Peace Prize Gala in Oslo, Norway, in honor of the latest Nobel Peace Prize winners. She will also host the 100th episode of Logo's critically acclaimed show NewNowNext Music, which will air at midnight, Sunday, November 25. The show features only out gay musical performers and those with a big following among gays.
