O'Reilly Outraged Over "Hunky Jesus"

on 03-28-2008 15:00

Fox News host Bill O'Reilly threw a fit on his show The O'Reilly Factor Tuesday about a "hunky Jesus" contest that took place in San Francisco on Easter Sunday, the city he says "despises any remnants of Christianity or Judaism or any organized religion."Hunky Jesus 2007

O'Reilly tried to outrage conservative comedian and political commentator Dennis Miller, but Miller wasn't so easily persuaded:

"I say," says Miller, "that whatever covenant I have with God, and I assume most people do - it's not impinged upon by moron homosexual guys having parades in San Francisco."

"If they want to do this, fine, nobody should get involved except God. If God wants to smoke them, if he's still in the smoking business, he should. Other than that it matter not a twitch to me. This guys' looking for a gay parade theme every week."

"Wouldn't you love to see all this people turned into salt, wouldn't that just be great?", O'Reilly asks Miller.

"I don't know, Bill," responds Miller.

"It just...it doesn't...it doesn't matter to me."

2. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees!
Periodically, there are episodes involving the image of Christ that certain factions of the I'm-the-most-devout-Christian community find offensive. Whether it's Piss Christ, or images of the Madonna painted with manure, or this, the overly (and loudly) devout find their soapboxes and offer excoriations. Ok, fine. So they didn't like it. But isn't it odd that, after 2,000 years of His word and sacrifice and offer of redemption and salvation, neither He nor his message has been diluted, in spite of and in answer to such arguable sacrilege. Christ cannot be eradicated, nor his word silenced.Snap!

I have never understood why some of my gay brothers find it necessary to poke fun at the important beliefs of others. The "hunky Jesus" was just terribly bad taste and our community isn't worthy of such shit. We can have fun and make love without demeaning the values of others. We complain when its done to us. So why can't we give others the same respect and acceptance we're always looking for. Defiling others very important beliefs isn't the way to get respect!

4. why not?
The Crucified Christ is inacted all over the world on Easter, why cannot the Gays of San Francisco have one , and the others do not have any ugly Christ's. The poor guy have been hung so many times it should be second nature to everyone by now

5. Random SFer
I'm gay, I live in SF, and this repulses me. I see those sick, twisted, Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence all over the city and I always want to barf. These are grown men, running around looking like clowns on crack. They need some serious therapy if they think this is a worthwhile way to spend their time. Behavior like this is why I'm ashamed of the local gay community. It's been hijacked by activists and damaged people trying to relive the late 70s. Just sad.
