on 03-10-2008 16:45

Lawrence KingIn memory of gay teenager Lawrence King, who was brutally murdered at his high school in Oxnard, California, celebrities such as Janet Jackson, T.R. Knight, Andre 3000, Ashanti, and Portia de Rossi, have gathered together to raise awareness about anti-gay hate crimes.

15-year old Lawrence King was shot in the schoolyard at his high school on February 12 by a fellow student because he was gay. He was taken off life support and declared dead a day later.

Just a few days later, 17-year-old Simmie Williams was found dead in a pool of blood in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, also believed to have been victim of a gay hate crime.

The public service announcement below began airing on gay cable channel Logo Monday, featuring among others, Janet Jackson, T.R. Knight, Andre 3000 (OutKast), Ashanti, and Portia de Rossi.
