Queer Editor Goes Ex-Gay

on 01-30-2008 17:05

The religious ex-gay movement is unfortunately live and well, also outside of the United States; Chilean online editor Victor Jorquera is the latest victim of the despicable movement, saying he has given up on being gay to work with conservative Evangelicals.GayChile.com

Spain's AmbienteG reports that the founder of the prominent gay web site GayChile.com, is actually aligned with the Biblical Missionary Church of Paraguay, a homophobic evangelical fundamentalist group. AmbienteG says the influence of this institution has made Jorquera not only renounce his own sexuality but also make homophobic comments.

"From something as miserable and shameful as being gay, I became a son of God," Jorquera reportedly said.

A statement on GayChile.com, says:
"Beginning in the first half of 2008, GayChile.com, with permission from the Church Missionary Biblica (Biblical Christian Church), will issue [..] a series of programs that will help [..] thousands of people in their encounters with Biblical truth. The idea of incorporating the programs comes from the need and interest of our users, many of them who are tired and troubled, and who over the 10 years of existence of GayChile.com have sought a solution to their personal problems, problems that are not resolved by meeting with psychologists, nor with Yoga, or transcendental meditation [..] or by visiting witches or warlocks. The programs are clearly Christian [..] and only rely on the resources that the Scriptures deliver [..]

1. Been there - done that
Victor Jorquera is going through a stage that 1000's of us have known also. I spent 22 years as a Christian doing everything possible to change my gay orientation, including ex-gay programs. Eventually he' will discover, as we have, that his life was miserable, not because he was gay, but because he made bad life choices. Heterosexuals with bad lives turn to Jesus also, but they don't change their sexual orientation. Our morality is a choice, our sexual orientation however isn't. Lets not condemn Victor, eventually he'll realise you can have faith, morality and celebrate your sexuality.

3. "Ex-Gay"
I agree with the previous poster. We all go through times in our life when we regret the choices that we've made and the things we've done. I imagine he's going through his stage right now. I hope he eventually realizes that changing your sleeping partners doesn't guarantee you happiness, only making the right choices with whom you fall in love with does, whether that person is a man or a woman. Good luck to him and God bless.
