Fox Host who Mocked Ledger Apologizes

on 01-25-2008 15:38

Fox News host John Gibson, who mocked Heath Ledger after his death by laughing and making fun of some of the famous lines from "Brokeback Mountain", finally apologized on his show Thursday. John Gibson

Here's what went down on the Gibson's show Wednesday:
"Playing an audio clip of the iconic quote, 'I wish I knew how to quit you' from Ledger's gay romance movie Brokeback Mountain, Gibson disdainfully quipped, 'Well, he found out how to quit you.' Laughing, Gibson then played another clip from Brokeback Mountain in which Ledger said, 'We're dead,' followed by his own, mocking 'We're dead' before playing the clip again."

Gibson called Ledger a "weirdo" with a "serious drug problem" and suggested that Ledger killed himself because he had "a serious position in the (stock) market" or perhaps "watched the Clinton-Obama debate last night. I think he was an Edwards guy, cause he saw his Edwards guy was just completely irrelevant."

On his Fox News Channel show Thursday, Gibson reluctantly apologized and said he was sorry if his comments offended anyone and also said he was sorry that Heath Ledger died and wasn't with us anymore.

2. An Apology Is Insufficient
This jerk should summarily be fired by Fox and banned from ever broadcasting again.

This didn't even approach the boundaries of "sick humor", it was just plain SICK!

Fox Network's own peculiar brand of Fred Phelps, one assumes. Shame on Fox! :(

3. H. Ledger Mocked
Tasteless remarks like those made by Mr. Gibson, the infamous Rev. Phelps and his supporters, illustrate why and how laws protecting us from specific forms of freedom of expression deserve to be drafted and carry penalties more than a slap on the wrist.

4. fox news sucks
One more reason not to watch Fox news. You can say anything you want. Just make sure you apologize for it. Here an idea; think before you speak.

5. Gibson' s comments on Heath
This revolting man, Gibson, epitomises all that is wrong with the world. His narrow minded, ill-informed bigotry is vile and disgusting, and I am sure all decent Americans are ashamed of him. Gibson's style of journalism(?) gives all good journalists a bad name.

This so called "man" Gibson ( there is nothing "manly" about him), has to rate as the No. 1 "sleeze- bag" of all. Heath Ledger was a supremely talented young man, who will be remembered, forever for his incredible talent.
Gibson, IF, he's remembered at all, will be for "nasty ugliness". TURN FOX OFF!
