The seriously troubled followers of Fred Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church have announced plans to picket Heath Ledger's funeral because he "promoted homosexuality" by playing a gay man in "Brokeback Mountain."

Never letting a chance for publisity pass by, no matter how tactless and cruel, the Topeka, Kansas, based church which is infamous for picketing the funerals of dead soldiers and gays, says Ledger was a pervert that is now burning in hell.

"God hates the, tacky bucket of slime seasoned with womit known as Brokeback Mountain and he hates all persons having anything whatsoever to do with it," they write in a flier.

No word on how the near-bankrupt church - it was recently ordered to pay $11 million to the father of a slain U.S. soldier for picketing at the funeral of his son - would finance such an operation if the funeral were to be held in Ledger's homeland Australia.

If Ledger's death wasn't so tragic we would have welcomed the appearance of these hatemongers because every time they crawl out of the woodwork, more people understand how ugly homophobia really is.

Update: Ledger's body WILL be brought back to Australia for burial in his home town of Perth after Hollywood celebrities have said farewell to him at a memorial service in Los Angeles.

Thaat is Gods job. As for Heath Ledger he was an actor. He was not gay in real life. He is the brunt of a religious cult that is trying to play GOD. These people need to look at thier own lives and mistakes. Yes I am a BAPTIST but not associated with stupidity that these people at this church are embrasing. People get on your knees and pray for our country, our soldiers, and all of America. You need GOD in your lives people. It's just sad Heath just died yesterday and now his family has to see an deal with this kinda of stuff just because he chose to play a part in a movie. A man or women that chooses to play a part that is gay is in no means who they are as a person. So how about you people go and try and fight for something that is needing the fight like stopping Child Abuse or World Hunger things that are affecting the lives and heath of the people in this world. Baptist I'd like to know what association of Baptists this church identifies itself with. I've been a member of Southern Baptist and Independent Baptist churches, and this church is not in line with either of these. God does hate homosexuality, but he loves homosexuals just as he loves all sinners. We are called to repent from sin, yes. These people sound very hateful - and that's a sin. If God Existed He'd Pity Homphobes I'm an atheist but was raised Roman Catholic and was quite devout as a child. What I learned from Christianity, and from my parents was that bigotry in all forms is wrong.  These particular anti-christians with their message of hatred are particularly troubling, and seem to suffer from some sort of personality disorder.  And Lisa how the F do you know what "God" hates?
