It is digusting that ANYONE can be discriminated against because of their faith, never mind being demoted.

Can I expect those on the "gay pride" march who insist on "equality" to insist on the fireman in question having his old job back, or are some animals more equal than others?

The firemen were refusing to do their job, in this case giving out fire safety fliers.

If there were a fire during the parade, should the firefighters be allowed to opt out of saving gay people because of their faith?

That's a horrible view. And what does that have to do with any rights gay people have asked for?

I'm sure firemen always do their best saving lives without prejudice.

Handing out leaflets promoting something most people find abhorent is not part of the job.

This is nothing to do with safety, it is the usual PC stuff - the boss probably wants to win some award courtesy of Stonewall, while bringing shame on the service.

My name is Will and finally, at the age of 22, I have accepted the fact that I am gay. My problem is I love the Marine Corps, but I need to figure out how to be me without getting thrown out. I am new at this sort of thing and am learning to be honest with myself. When I was 17, my Dad found some letters from me and another boy. They were just affectionate notes and it could have led me to my true identity, but my Dad beat me to a pulp when he got his hands on the letters. I think about that beating nearly every day. Funny, I am now a combat veteran and I am still afraid of my Dad. Please, please, please - I need to talk to someone with more experience. [Editors Note: Phone # removed. I am sorry to hear of your problems.

You say that at 22 you have "finally" accepted you are gay.

Would I be correct in thinking that you hoped you would outgrow these feelings?

Often in life, we come to a crossroads and can go one way or another. Maybe you went the wrong way and have to go back and refigure what way you really ought to go.

Maybe I can help you in a way you weren’t expecting.

I look forward to your reply.

I cant for the life of me wonder why people comment on topics that they do not know the first thing about. The truth will come out.

You will be eating your words hopefully you will choke on them.
