Do you think gay guys are more focused on sex than straight guys? If we are, is it a good thing or not?

I think men are men, no matter the sexual preference, and they think about sex, but the public stigmata about gays is that we base EVERYTHING on sex, is not good. I have known straight people who would not let their children be around a gay man for fear of him doing something sexual to the child. Statistics show alot of the sexual crimes are committed by straight men, but it is the gay man who gets the bum wrap. STD's are diseases both straight and gay men get, but yet again it is the gay man who gets the honour of being classified as being the more likely cause or spreader.
The media and entertainment industry seems to promote the straight mens' preoccupation about sex. One can hardly see a t.v show or movie where a dude isn't checking out some part of a females body and wanting to get into her pants. To the straight men...that is way cool. Very rare is it that a gay man is represented as a sensitive person looking for more than just an anonymous encounter in an alley way or steam bath. To the public ALL gays have sex of some kind no matter the location, where as straights are put higher on the status level, even though they have sex in alleys and parking lots, restrooms and elevators...
yet again it is the gay man who is the perverted sex monger.
Plus there is the club scene. In straight clubs it is oh so appropriate to see two or more women pumping and grinding each other in a huddle on the dancefloor, even though there are men there to dance with. Instead, the men are standing on the sidelines drooling and getting all hot and bothered watching it and loving every minute of it. This is acceptable behaviour. Where as if two men were to do the same thing on the dancefloor, they are sick, perverted and abnormal. Some gay men however, have not done alot to change the public stigma about gays and their views on sex. To some men, gay or straight, sex seems to be the ONLY thing they live for.
So, "Do you think gay guys are more focused on sex than straight guys?", I think it is 50/50. It is just that in the public world, it is acceptable for a straight man to go sniffing around trying to get his fix. To them if a gay man were to do the same thing it is seen as immoral and unacceptable...and normal. The straight world think that ALL gay men are either sexual deviants, pedophiles, perverts. Truth be told, it is the straight man who has the taboos and hidden fantasies of the "forbidden" that they find so fascinating but would never admit to it. Gays seem to be more open when it comes to sex, where straight men are more apt to shy away or condemn that which they don't understand, even though some fantasize about doing it. [/LEFT]

I think that at this time, men's sexual proclivities be they straight or gay are about equal. Although, I don't think it was asn't always this way.
The sexual freedom of the 70's enabled gays to more easily and less covertly seek out sexual partners with less recrimination and condemnation. Basically like any group that has been universally repressed the search for sexual pleasure became a standard to be enjoyed without being impeded by christian mandates.
Sexual liberation and Gay Liberation go hand and hand. When AIDS entered the scene all bets were off.
Gays became pariahs and purveyors of sexually transmitted fatal diseases so they, the heterosexual world would have us believe. But now that the Aids Virus
is faithful to all groups, gays are freer to seek more power and privilege .
If there is any sexual disparity, it is minimal.

You make reference to Christian mandates in part of your comment. Many religions do not accept/ equalize gay relationships, not merely the Christian faiths. That said, it should be stated that in some nations such as Canada, certain Churches are changing their approach to gay marriage. Furthermore, even people with no religious affiliations, then, as today, often have issues with gays and their rights. Gays are a minority and not well understood. That fact in itself is a recipe for discrimination just as it is for most minorities.
A.I.D.S. has not made gay life more acceptable now that the disease has impacted the heterosexual community in such a widespread manner. Incredulously, I have even heard it said that AIDS is widespread in Africa because most Africans are bisexual. While I agree that gays have seen significant changes for the positive in some nations, this is certainly not related to AIDS and it is not true for most of the world. The United States of America has a long way to go. Sexual disparity is not minimal either. There are few American states that allow full gay marriage (as opposed to civil union). In most countries, many heterosexual men also still "fear" that a gay man will come on to them, however irrational. Are gay couples easily permitted to adopt children? No. People that happen to be gay should not be defined by it as they still are. This is why you don't see gays in politics as openly as they are most assuredly are involved in the political arena. Could you share a kiss on a park bench in a smaller urban environment like downtown Rochester or Tallahassee without risking some kind of negative feedback from others? Sexual disparity exists still even between men and women. This is easy to see and explains why there are so many pink ghettos in the corporate world.
