Brokeback Mountain - The Opera
"Brokeback Mountain" writer Annie Proulx has
given the go-ahead to an opera based on her story about the two gay
cowboys. Fellow Pulitzer Prize winner Charles Wuorinen will compose.
New York Daily News Tuesday mentions that the gay cowboy story, which
was made into a major movie success with Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath
Ledger in the main roles, will get a musical adaptation.
Speculations surfaced earlier this year about a possible Broadway debut
for the story, with Hugh Jackman and James Marsden considered for the
main roles. No details yet on who may play the studly male lovers in the
Opera version, though. |
