George Michael Says He Has Few Gay Fans

Out pop star George Michael says in a TV special on British TV that he has few gay fans and that he is convinced this is due to the fact that he is open about his homosexuality.

George Michael, 43, 'came out' in April 1998 after he was arrested for "engaging in a lewd act" in a Beverly Hills, California public toilet.

Speaking on last night's George Michael - I'm Your Man: A South Bank Special show, Michael said, "I don't have many gay fans.

"Gay fans are only interested when you're 'in the closet'.

"Once you're out, they don't give a toss."
