
Gay Governor's Book Becomes a Best-Seller
NEWARK, NEW JERSEY -- The autobiography of former New
Jersey Gov. James E. McGreevey is now officially a New York Times
best-seller.
"The Confession," which was released on September 19, will be ranked No.
3 in nonfiction hardcover sales in The New York Times book review in the
Oct. 8 issue, the newspaper said.
The
book ranked No. 1 in biography-autobiography and No. 4 in adult
nonfiction based on first-week sales of 15,000 recorded by Nielsen
BookScan U.S., The Star-Ledger of Newark reported in Thursday's
newspapers.
McGreevey have lived a very private life since his resignation, mostly
avoiding all contact with media. He, however, promoted the book with
several television appearances last week, including a taped interview on
"The Oprah Winfrey Show."
McGreevey came out publicly as a "gay American" at a news conference in
August 2004. He also announced his resignation at the same conference,
admitting he had been in affair with another man.
