Boy George Begins Garbage Duty
NEW YORK, NY -- Singer Boy George got in a
confrontation with the media when he started his 5 day long
court-ordered community service duty in New York Monday morning.
The 80's star was given a shovel, broom, plastic bags and gloves to help
him scrub down the streets of Lower Manhattan, but was obstructed by
news photographers who prevented him from doing his job.
"Do
you think you're better than me? Let me do this. I just want to do my
job," the star yelled to the press. "Go home! Let me complete my
community service," he continued.
The one-time Culture Club singer, born George O'Dowd, has struggled with
drug problems for years. He called police with a bogus report of a
burglary at his lower Manhattan apartment last October, and the
responding officers found 13 bags of cocaine inside. He was ordered to
spend five days working for the Department of Sanitation after pleading
guilty to the charges brought upon him.
