Bush Supports Gay Marriage Ban
WASHINGTON -- President George W Bush supports the
proposal that passed a Senate committee Thursday that would amend the US
constitution to ban gay marriage, said his chief spokesperson on Friday.
"He supports it," White House Press Secretary Tony Snow told reporters.
"The president does support the amendment."
However,
the spokesman also said that the President do not prioritize the issue and
that the administration is taking a wait-and-see approach until the
amendment goes to a full Senate vote on June 5.
"I don't know whether you want to get into priorities, you know," Snow
said. "I think what you let the Hill do, is that they schedule their
votes, they schedule their debates. But the president does support the
amendment."
Vice President Dick Cheney said in 2004 he disagreed with the amendment.
