The 1st Gay Academy Awards
HOLLYWOOD, CA -- The cowboy love story Brokeback
Mountain is leading the Oscar race with a total of eight nominations
and there is no doubt that this year will be ground breaking for gay
cinema.
The
question is not if Brokeback is taking home an Oscar but rather how
many golden hunks it wins. And in the categories where it doesn't bring
home the Oscar, chances are that another gay movie will bring it home
instead.
Philip Seymour Hoffman is doing a fantastic portrayal of Truman Capote in
Capote, and Transamerica with Felicity Huffman may be the
best movie about a transsexual ever made.
In addition to the five nominations below, Brokeback is also
nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best
Original Score. Capote is also nominated for Best Adapted
Screenplay, while Transamerica is also nominated for
Best Original Song.
