Brokeback Wins Three, Looses Best Picture
HOLLYWOOD, CA -- Brokeback Mountain won three Oscars,
including for best director, but failed to take home the most coveted
prize for Best Motion Picture.
Philip Seymour Hoffman took home the Oscar for Best Actor for Capote,
while Felicity Hoffman lost to Reese Witherspoon for Best Actress. All in
all it was a somewhat disappointing night at the Oscars for gay movies,
considering that Brokeback Mountain was nominated for eight Oscars, Capote
for five, and TransAmerica for two.
Brokeback
Moutain won Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Original
Score. Capote won Best Actor, and TransAmerica won Best Original Song ("Travelin'
