Pro-Gays Outnumbers KKK at Gay Marriage
Rally
AUSTIN, TX -- A small group of KKK members were met by
a large number of opponents when the Ku Klux Klan appeared at Austin City
Hall for the group's "pro-family values" rally in support of a proposed
state constitutional ban of same-sex marriage.
On Tuesday, Texans will vote over Proposition 2, a constitutional
amendment that would define that marriage in Texas is only between a man
and a woman.
Glen Maxey, one of the leaders of the opposition, urged the protesters to
"meet their (KKK) hate with love and understanding. While our families and
our abilities to care for each other is put up for a vote, I am uplifted
by the love."
Steven Edwards, the grand dragon of the Klan group, said "We're asking
Texans to support Proposition 2 because God supports it, not because the
KKK supports it."
More than 200 police officers were present at the rally and two arrests
were made.
