ATLANTA -- Serial bomber Eric Rudolph was sentenced to
two consecutive life terms without parole for the bombing of a Birmingham
abortion clinic in 1998.
Eric Rudolph bombed the Atlanta gay nightclub 'Otherside Lounge' in 1997.
He will be sentenced on Aug. 22 for bombing the 1996 Olympics and two
other sites in Atlanta. Rudolph has pleaded guilty to the three Atlanta
blasts that killed one person and injured more than 120.
A statement by Rudolph released by his lawyers after the April hearing
denounced homosexuality as an "aberrant sexual behavior" with which gays
"should not attempt to infect the rest of society."
Rudolph has a gay brother, Jamie, and visited him and his boyfriend in New
York City after the Otherside bombing and before the Birmingham attack
that would send him on the run.
"He seemed comfortable. I could talk to him openly," Jamie Rudolph told
Salon in January 1999.
