Nothing Gay on "Wisteria Lane"?
LOS ANGELES -- Next season of
"Desperate Housewives" will offer more surprises, twists and turns, but
the kiss between "Andrew" (Shawn Pyfrom) and "Justin" (Ryan Carnes) is not
likely to develop into anything more.
That is some of information that was revealed when the show's creator,
Marc Cherry, sat down at a panel discussion at The 23rd Los Angeles Gay &
Lesbian Film Festival.
Cherry, who is gay, commented on the show's huge fan base, "I think
anytime you get four or five really strong women doing desperate,
dastardly things, gay men get a big kick out of it."
Marcia
Cross, who plays Bree Van de Camp in the series, said, "It's written by
primarily gay men and, I think, a few gay women. So, in that sense, you've
got to wonder what is that connection that they have written these women
so well - men have written these females extraordinarily well."
The cast and crew was naturally ecstatic over the 15 Emmy nominations for
the show, "Thrilled, thrilled, thrilled!" said Cherry. "I can't even think
of another word. I was just really, really happy."
Shawn Pyfrom, who plays Bree's son Andrew, commented on the prospect of
some more man-to-man lip action from his character, "(Andrew) is a very
narcissistic character. So basically anything he wants to do, anything
that feels good, he does. I think that's more what he is. I don't think
he's gay or straight. I think he's just Andrew." [Back to News Headlines]
