| Gay & Lesbian Video: Josh Zuckerman - Out
from Under
If you’re a fan of great Queer music then the name Josh Zuckerman
is a familiar one. But if keeping up with music's Queer side is
not something you usually do then my advice to you is pick up
Josh Zuckerman's sophomore album, "Out From Under", available
August 15, 2006.
Zuckerman is no stranger to the music scene. In his early days
he went by the name Josh Stevens fronting the rock band China
White, having their own success and opening for the heavy-metal
pop group Warrant, and rock goddess herself Joan Jett and the
Blackhearts. He preformed with Peabo Bryson in 1996 at the
Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, as well with the legendary B.B.
King the 1998 at the World Expo in Lisbon, Portugal. He has also
shared the stage with The Indigo Girls, Macy Gray, RuPaul, Jai
Rodriguez, Kimberly Locke, and Sophie B. Hawkins.
Josh who was raised in St. Louis, Missouri released his first
solo album "A Totally New Sensation" and was nominated for the
2002 Out Music Award for outstanding songwriter of the year.
That same title track was also included on the soundtrack for
the film "Know Parking". His songs have been featured on Kathy
Griffin's Show "My Life On The D-List" on Bravo and on the Logo
Television Network.
Like his first release, the new album "Out From Under", once
again brings us truth in the collection of 13 songs, giving us
the very human journey of life lessons, self-acceptance and
having no fear of being alone while carrying a message about
being true to one’s self. Using his sexy and soulful voice with
a raw edge quality to take us on his journey, and giving us a
glimpse into how we all relate…as in a human thing.
The upcoming release has already created quite the buzz, the
title track "Out From Under" remained # 1 for 4 weeks on Sirius
OutQ's Top 20.
While the entire album is well worth it, and put together
perfectly, there are a few tracks not to miss, "Authenticity"
carry's a truthful character of ones selves message, "Be Real"
could really have been the albums other title, describing the
importance of being yourself, "Peace Of Me, is truly a gift to
our lives, showing us that sometimes when we love we give a part
of us away that doesn’t return. And finally my personal favorite
"Guilt And Shame", is a journey of what most in our community
faces in our own lives, but the message of the song just like
the album, is powerful, uplifting, courageous, and a true "Soul
Driver" of our lives.
The new album is truly filled with lessons and journeys for the
soul leaving you to feel empowered in your own travel through
life. Josh Zuckerman is a gifted songwriter creating lyrics that
capture your attention and provoke thoughts while challenging
you to become a better you. This desire he has to make the world
better is obvious not just in his music but in his belief
system, after recently interviewing him I truly gained a whole
new respect for him, he seems to be a voice of conscience for
our often times self-demonizing community. He is shaping and
changing minds, teaching self respect through his music and
through his other career as a Kindergarten teacher. But don’t
just think it's all fluffy and filled with love. He is after all
a literary and serious a musician, lyricist and performer, who
has paid his dues like the rest of us. It is an sexy, soul
changing, aggressive, infectious, and addictive pop / rock album
that should be in ever ones collection.
After traveling over 15 different countries performing and
spreading his music to the masses, this summer he has been busy
promoting his upcoming album, and hitting PRIDE events all over
the United States, from central California to the east coast.
Josh is a rock show man, those who see him live are amazed at
the presence he has on stage, so, where ever you are if you get
a chance to see him, by all means do so, it will give a chance
to find fun, pleasure, as well as giving you a bit of
enlightenment too.
