Megan Mullally Headed for Broadway's Young Frankenstein
The late Madeline Kahn
left big shoes to fill for any actress taking over one of her roles.
But if any contemporary performer could sub for Kahn as Elizabeth in
Young Frankenstein - the uptight ice queen who discovers passion at
the hands of a reanimated monster - it's bisexual songstress and funny
lady Megan Mullally, who will play that very role when
Frankenstein becomes a Broadway musical.
Following
the international success of The Producers, Mel Brooks
returns to the stage with this uproarious send-up of classic monster
movies, and he's got a strong cast backing him up, including Sutton
Foster (The Drowsy Chaperone) as Inga and Shuler Hensley
(Tarzan, Oklahoma!) as the monster (a role he also played in
Van Helsing).
Three other lead roles have yet to be cast, and there's no word yet on
when Frankenstein will stomp into previews.
