Cody Furguson
Male Nudes In Middle America
Cody Furguson believes his love of art to stem from the time he bought the Maurice Sendak book “Where the Wild Things Are” when he was a kid.
Cody saw the cover in a Weekly Reader at school and it was one of the few things he thought ever lived up to it's hype. The fine-lined pen work of the book really enticed him, and his first artistic goal was to become a cartoonist.
Later on, in his teen years, he got obsessed with working with the airbrush after his mother brought him back some painted T-shirts after a trip to Florida. He took some arts classes and bought all the
literature he could on how to master the airbrush.
His love for the smooth blended effect of the airbrush can still be seen in much of his work even though he now prefers to work with oils and watercolors.
Certified as a graphic artist, Cody has worked with web design, advertising, sign painting and the like. His interest for painting male nudes started quite recently, early in 2003. As an admirer of the beauty and complexity of the male form, he finds it natural that it has become one of his main subjects.
Cody sees himself as an artist at heart who likes to express himself in many different directions. In addition to his painting, he's also a writer and a musician. He has written over 60 songs in the post-punk indie rock
vein.
