René Capone
Love, Hate, Jealousy
According
to René, making art is like telling stories. The greatest themes in life
are explored through art. Love, hate, jealousy, fear, anger, passion and
anything else one can imagine. He believes an artist’s job is to tell
these stories.
René grew up in upstate New York. In school he developed a love for making
art at a very young age. He loved it for the way it made him feel, and for
the moments when other children would look over his shoulder to see what
he was making.
In high school he realized that expression was freedom from the harshness
of life’s reality. Art was a place of freedom for what to do, say, or
believe. Showing bits of himself made others do the same. When he was
accepted into New York City’s Parsons school of design, he worked on
refining his skills and most importantly, to continue believing in his own
voice and direction.
According to Adam Sandel of the S.F Examiner, "René Capone's art conveys a
sense of wonder, exploration and discovery. Set against a fantastical
world of mythical dreamscapes, the figures in his work appear to be on a
deeply personal quest for identity and their place in the world."
Being continually charmed by San Francisco, René moved to the west coast
where he now lives and works. Believing in the power of artwork, he
continues to work, striving to be an artist with something to give to his
viewers.
