Hot Trick By Stian Nilsen
Trick tells the story of Gabriel, a songwriter that has problems with writing lyrics from the heart. Looking for inspiration he lets his roommate have the apartment for the evening and decides for an evening out on the town. In a cruise bar he comes across a sexy go-go dancer named Mark. Gabriel makes eye contact with Mark but doesn't dare to go further than that. But when they meet again on a subway train, Gabriel can't deny the attraction between them and then everything starts getting messy.
Determined to spend the night together they go through one hassle after another trying to find a place to stay. Even though they don't succeed, when the night turns into day they feel like having shared something together much more important than a one-night-stand.
With great cinematography, a wonderful script by Jason Schafer, and a talented young cast, director Jim Fall has created something special.
From the moment Gabriel and Mark meet on the subway to their frustration of not being able to find a quiet place to be alone, Trick uses these rules of the genre to it's advantage. Fall's taken a romantic comedy, and created a film that will delight and surprise both gay and straight audiences within the confines of well-worn conventions.
